Ultimate Latex For WordPress : Installation and General Syntax

July 21st, 2009

Before you think that you already have LaTeX plugin installed in your blog and you don’t need another one, I suggest you to take a look first the features that this plugin has here and then you can comeback here if you like the available features.

Here are the installation procedure:

  1. Download the plugin from here.
  2. Unzip the downloaded file and the upload the file to the directory /wp-content/plugins or login to your wordpress blog and then use the plugin installer to upload the zip file upload
  3. If you using the plugin installer in step 2, after you uploaded the file you will be prompted to activate the plugin. Please do activate the plugin. If you manually uploaded the file, find the Ultimate Latex For WordPress plugin among all of your plugins and activate it. Also deactivate any other Latex plugin that you already have (if you have it already).
  4. Create a directory named cache inside the /wp-content/ directory and set permission (chmod) to 777.
  5. You are done and you are ready to write beautiful LaTeX symbols on your blog.

Here are some basic syntax in Ultimate Latex For WordPress

We will discuss about customization on the next post. We will learn how to set up the global color, how to change the latex server (if the default server no longer working), how to include packages and how to define a new latex command.
Let me finish this post by including some cool commutative diagram just for fun:)

The image generated using Ultimate Latex is white. How do I change it to be transparent?

  2. watchmath

Do you mean the background of the image?

  3. Charlie

Yes. Somehow the background of the png image I got was white instead of transparent. I tried your plugin with several different latex servers and got the same results. I wonder if that’s a problem of my web hosting company’s setup since you guys don’t seem to have this problem.

Can you give me the link to your testing page so I can try to figure out what the problem is?

Unfortunately plugins are only for self hosted wordpress. Free account wordpress blog has no plugin capability.
